I am going to be starting my series on Finding a Gem: A Useful Website for Australian Teachers, as I feel it is important to provide teachers with websites that are suitable for the classroom and complement your teaching. Since we live in an age where information is easy to access, but not necessarily relevant, it takes precious time to sift through the “dirt” to find a “gem!” As I was searching the Internet for useful websites, I stumbled across a number of them which I will be sharing with you over the coming months.
The first website that I will be sharing with you today is fabulous for TWO important reasons:
Reason #1: Usability. The design and navigation of this website is appealing and easy to use. If you click on 'Themed curriculum support materials,' you can search through the themes to find a topic of interest or one that you may be teaching in your classroom. Click 'GO' and you will be taken to an Introduction page. Scroll down and click on 'Lessons and activity sheets' and you will find all of the lesson ideas and activities on the right hand side of your screen. You can then download these as a PDF! Simple!
Reason #2: Free Resources: Who doesn’t want a free resource? In the 'More resources' section, you can place an order to receive FREE resources, such as Discover Dairy Classroom Resources and Murray-Darling Basin Authority. Easy!
I have shared this website with you today, as it is one that has been designed for all Australian teachers. I hope it’s as useful to you as it has been for me!
